The Power of Spoken Words

Choose to speak Life

Proverbs 18:21 says: “…..death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

Our words have a great influence in our lives, it is one of the most powerful forces available to humanity. The mind accomplishes what it hears and we will possess whatever we confess.

We were made in the image of God and He gave us authority over the words we use. We have the power through Christ to achieve, create and change the circumstances in our lives with our words. We were born powerful through Christ and were not left helpless, poor and weak. By His grace we have received all the tools we need to not only survive but to fulfill our destiny to the utmost. It does not matter where we came from or the circumstances of our birth, our age or present lifestyle.

Just as flowers have seeds, words are the seeds of God. The word of God is incorruptible seed according to 1 Peter 1:23 – …” (you) have been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.”

James 3:9,10 says: “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth comes praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.”

You will reap whatever seed you sow and it will germinate in your heart and produce a harvest, if you believe. Every word you say is a seed planted and the harvest will come. It might take time because seed doesn’t grow overnight – there will be time between sowing and harvesting.

We must have faith

Praying desperately is not the answer when we need intervention, we have to speak positive words and believe and have faith that God will assist us. Hebrews 11:6 says: “Without faith it is impossible to receive anything from the Lord.”

What we believe, we receive.

To do

We have to accept Jesus as our Savior, repent our sins, be grateful, praise Him, grow in our faith and speak positive words to lead a successful life.

It is your responsibility to use words that inspire and not destroy. Once the words have been said, they cannot be retracted.

Be more conscious of your thoughts and words and the power they unleash. Speak words that are in alignment with what you want to see and accomplish in your life.

Your words can make a positive difference on the people you interact with in your daily life.

Take control of your words

Before you speak, ask yourself if what you are going to say is uplifting to the hearer. Will it inspire, motivate and create forward momentum for them? Will it create trust and safety and dissolve fear? Will my words create a negative or positive effect for them?

Instead of solving your problems by your own minute power, reach out and tap into God’s Power. It’s available for each one of us, smart or not, rich or poor, happy or miserable – any time we call upon His name.

Speak LIFE over yourself, your circumstances, your children, your husband, your family, your country and the world we live in. Let’s be determined to unleash the power of words for positive change.

Be kind to all and speak words that are beacons of inspiration, enthusiasm and encouragement. Kind and sweet words are always music to the ears of the listeners.
